Modelljärnväg Hässleholm - Cab ride on the largest model railroad in Sweden

Hässleholm is a small city with 18,500 inhabitants in Sweden. The city was gradually developed from 1860 in connection with the construction of the railroad from Stockholm to Malmö. Therefore, Hässleholm’s history is closely connected with the railroad history of Sweden. In June 2004, Hässleholms Modelljärnvägsförening (HMJF), the Hässleholm Model Railroad Association was formed. In the early years, the members of HMJF constructed a permanent model railroad layout on 250 square meters. The layout is called “Modelljärnväg Hässleholm” and depicts Hässleholm’s railroad station and buildings in the 1960’s.

In 2008, another room was used for increasing the layout. The idea was to present not only Hässleholm, but also the surrounding villages, communities and railway stations in HO scale. In 2013, the HMJF moved to a new site with an area of more than 700 square meters. Today, Hässleholm’s Modelljärnväg presents Hässleholm railroad station, cargo yard, freight yard and the villages of Sösdala, Finja, Tyringe, Västra Torup, Tormestorp, Sandåkra and Vankiva.

Actually, the model railroad layout of Attarp, Ignaberga and Vinslöv is still under construction. Ignaberga and Vinslöv will take more than 200 square meters, and this section of the layout will be a winter landscape. In this video, we are going to do model railroading in Swedish: Let’s discover one of the largest model railroad layouts of North Europe, totally built in 1/87 scale. Pilentum’s model train camera is cruising on more than 1,500 meters of rail tracks along a beautiful miniature world of Sweden.
