Trucks and Trains: Using the Runcam 5 as cab ride camera on the streets of a model railroad layout

Rail transport modeling at a different glance: In this video, Pilentum Television would like to present you the streets of a model railroad layout from the truck driver’s view. We are going to discover completely new insights of a miniature world in HO scale. Miniature car systems and scale model vehicles, which automatically drive on miniature roads, are a fascinating enrichment for every model train layout.

In the simplest case, these mini car systems can even be retrofitted to a model railway layout. Only a magnetic wire has to be installed below the road surface. After all, we need a vehicle. There are ready-to-run vehicles (see “Faller Car”). But you can also use any model car and modify it. There are conversion sets which include a front axle, a steering grinder, a motor, a rechargeable battery and a rear axle with gearbox. Advanced mini car systems are characterized by intelligent traffic monitoring and distance control. In addition, those vehicles can be precisely controlled via DCC.

Very popular miniature vehicle systems are the “Faller Car System”, based on analog or on digital control by using ultrasonic sensors, or the “DC Car System”, based on infrared sensors for traffic control. An innovative system that uses two wires and induction coils is the “Dinamo MCC System”. The camera, used in this video, is the new “RunCam 5”, a superb cube camera (dimension: 38 x 38 x 36 mm or 1.49 x 1.49 x 1.42 inches) suitable for rail transport modeling, model railroading and railway modelling.
